NCR celebrates their 10th year with their gorgeous 4-4-0 American 'York' 17. 10 years of the NCR, 10 years since York was built. A new depot. New coaches. A freshly restored wooden gondola. Trackage extended to - and beyond the famed Howard Tunnel. Acquiring a second steam engine. And a visiting 1928 built 0-4-0 steam engine; there is much to celebrate.
York 17 and the Northern Central Railway operated their very first trains. Returning trains to the old NCR line for the first time in over a decade.
York 17 arrives in New Freedom. Built brand new in Elgin Illinois, completed just weeks prior, America's newest steam locomotive was purpose built by the Kloke Locomotive Works for the Northern Central, true to an 1860s Rogers Locomotive.
