The Minuteman Route Lives Again

A classic road name with appeal all over the US, and a once mighty New England Road, the Boston & Maine has sadly been a road name with no steam representatives operating in the entire preservation era.

For two days only, however, that will change. An event that will never happen again, the Strasburg Rail Road Company No. 89, a former Canadian National E10a 2-6-0 will undergo a cosmetic overhaul to represent the B&M B15 class mogul. Not a mere magnet job, or vinyl, or paint, but a physical cosmetic makeover. New handrails, headlight, headlight mount, marker light mounts, marker light reposition, B&M style number plate, and numbering and lettering. Engine 1397 will be resurrected for the photographers and videographers on these limited capacity photo specials.
On Monday November 10th the 1397 will lead a mixed train to star the day. A 7am departure will see the 1397, assorted freight cars, combine, and coach (Both of B&M heritage) over the road to paradise in 1950s themed scenes. A switching scene in the yard in the early afternoon will rebuild our train into a freight only consist. For the rest of the day and the night session, the 1397 will lead a string of boxcars, and a caboose. Rider coaches will be cut off for the runbys for this portion of the event.

The second and final day of 1397's brief return to the land of the living on Tuesday the 11th will see the 1397 lead a passenger consist of ex B&M coaches in the 1930s, before the engine fades back into the history books once again.
